Dear Mr. Chiodo,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my enthusiasm about the potential for a partnership between our Kreativ Basketball and POA, one that could significantly benefit the elementary and middle school kids in our community.
Kreativ Basketball is deeply committed to promoting youth development, and we firmly believe that the skills and values learned through sports, particularly basketball, can play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of young individuals.
We have been actively involved in providing basketball coaching and mentorship programs for kids in our community and our track record speaks for itself.
We envision a partnership that would not only benefit the students of POA School but also align with the school's commitment to offering a comprehensive and well-rounded educational experience.
By collaborating with us, you can provide your students with the opportunity to grow their basketball skills in a structured and supportive environment.
Here are some of the key advantages of this potential partnership with POA:
Skill Development: Our experienced coaches are dedicated to helping young athletes develop their basketball skills, fostering a sense of achievement and self-confidence among the students.
Convenience: We understand the busy lives of parents and the challenges they face in finding affordable extracurricular activities for their children. Our program offers convenient scheduling and affordable options that cater to the needs of families.
Community Prosperity: By investing in our partnership, POA can contribute to the overall prosperity and well-being of our community. Engaged and active children often become responsible and contributing citizens.
We look forward to the prospect of joining hands with POA School to empower the youth of our community through the wonderful game of basketball.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Kyle Draper

Proposal details
1. Situation
Being a volunteer coach for the Patriot Oaks Academy boys’ basketball team, I have seen an increase in the number of students trying out. We average about 60 to 70 kids during tryouts and yet we only have 12 spots available.
Most of the kids that try out do not play organized basketball and would like to grow their skills, but do not have many opportunities. The demand has increased in our area and I am determined to provide a solution.
Being the POA basketball coach as well as a recreational coach for our community for the last 6 years, I have been blessed with making great relationships with parents and their kids.
Why does it matter to POA?
I currently have 67 POA parents interested in this program and all would be willing to have their children participate, but only if the program would be held at the POA gym.
80% of the parents who have reached out to me about this basketball program, voiced their opinion that the convenience of the POA gym would play a major factor in their decision.
2. What we would offer to POA?
Our plan is to offer the community the opportunity to grow their basketball skills while also offering convenience (POA gym) and affordability:
There are many basketball leagues in our area, but most do not offer training in basketball fundamentals or skill development. While there are some basketball training facilities in Northeast Florida, most are either too far for parents or too expensive.
3. Price
On average it would cost a student $80 an hour to receive private 1 on 1 training and in most cases those coaches are already booked which makes it more difficult for new basketball enthusiasts to learn and grow.
I will be offering a month-to-month basketball membership to 5th - 8th grade boys & girls. The cost of membership would be $125/month.
4. Session details
Sessions would be 1 hour in length and offered once a week for a month.
We would offer two sessions a week with a maximum of 30 students per session.
Session 1: 5th and 6th graders.
Session 2: 7th and 8th graders.
5. What POA Students would learn
Getting Started
The Basics: Before diving into teaching basketball skills, it's essential to cover the basics:
Introduction to the Game: Begin with a brief overview of basketball, including its history, rules, and the objective of scoring points.
Safety First: Emphasize the importance of safety, such as wearing proper footwear and using protective gear.
Fundamental Skills
Dribbling: Teach kids how to dribble using both hands while emphasizing control and proper hand placement.
Passing: Introduce basic passing techniques like the chest pass and bounce pass. Practice passing drills to improve accuracy.
Shooting: Break down shooting into simple steps, focusing on proper stance, hand placement, and follow-through. Start with close-range shots and gradually progress to farther distances.
Defense: Teach the fundamentals of defense, including guarding an opponent, staying in a defensive stance, and stealing the ball.
Rebounding: Explain the importance of rebounding and practice box-out drills to secure missed shots.
Game Concepts
Rules of the Game: Teach kids the fundamental rules of basketball, including traveling, double dribble, and fouls.
Teamwork: Emphasize the significance of teamwork and cooperation. Encourage passing, setting screens, and communication on the court.
Game Strategy: Introduce basic offensive and defensive strategies, such as fast breaks, pick-and-roll plays, and zone defense.
Practice and Fun
Structured Practice: Design practice sessions that focus on specific skills and gradually increase in complexity.
Games and Drills: Incorporate fun games and drills that help reinforce skills, such as dribble tag, knockout, and mini-games.
Scrimmages: Organize friendly scrimmages to allow kids to apply what they've learned in a game-like setting.
Positive Reinforcement: Always provide positive feedback and encouragement to boost confidence and motivation.
Sportsmanship and Character Building
Teaching basketball goes beyond the court. Instill important life values:
Sportsmanship: Emphasize respect for opponents, coaches, and referees.
Character: Encourage honesty, teamwork, and perseverance both in basketball and everyday life.
Goal Setting: Help kids set achievable goals and celebrate their accomplishments.
